Freedom of information is essential in a democracy. However, personal information needs to be protected from misuse and abuse. Kane County is committed to protecting this information and will not display nor release it on its web site for general viewing. Certain personal information may be a part of the public record and may be available at County offices.

When You Visit Our Site

When you visit our site the County does not collect any personal identifiable information about you, including your email address. Furthermore, the County does not monitor your web-browsing activities with cookies (see below). Cookies, however, may be used by some County applications to pass information from one web page to another.

Information You Submit to Us

If you submit information to the County’s web site via email or a web form, this information will be used to fulfill the request for which the information was submitted. This may require that the information be shared with another County department or government agency.

The County will not disclose, give, transfer or sell any personal information on web site visitors unless required by law enforcement or statute.

Any exceptions to the County’s privacy policy will be prominently displayed on the particular department’s web page.

Finally, the County provides its web site as a source of information regarding Kane County. Efforts are made to ensure that information and links are accurate and current.
